What do dentures feel like?

Until your become accustomed to your new dentures, they may feel a bit uncomfortable or awkward for a few weeks. While the muscles in your cheeks and your tongue learn to help keep your dentures in place, the dentures may feel loose or not properly positioned. It is not unusual to feel minor irritation or soreness in or around your gums. Saliva flow may temporarily increase as well. These problems should diminish as you get used to the dentures. One or more follow-up appointments with the dentist are generally needed after a denture is inserted. If problems persist, such as soreness or irritation, you should consult your Seattle cosmetic dentist.
