Neuromuscular Dentistry

Neuromuscular Dentistry can help prevent a variety of symptoms such as neck pain, shoulder pain, jaw pain, popping or clicking in the jaw, and ringing in the ears (tinnitus).  The majority of American people suffer from at least one of these symptoms, and an unfortunate fact is that many of these people go see a doctor and get misdiagnosed or diagnosed as having no cause physiologically for their symptoms. This can be very frustrating to patients because they may end up trying many therapies or even having invasive surgeries without any pain relief resulting. One of the main reasons for this is these patients don’t know that they actually suffer from TMJ Disorder, also known as TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder). The diagnosis of this condition can be difficult, especially if the patient is visiting a physician when they should be seeing a Neuromuscular Dentist.  The reason so many people end up visiting the wrong type of healthcare provider is that most don’t think that headaches, migraines, neck pain, ear ringing, etc. could be a dental problem.

This article has been provided by Dr. Shawn M Keller, the neuromuscular dentist of Smiles By Design. If you think that you may suffer from TMJ Disorder and would like a free consultation with Dr. Keller please call our office at 425-558-1515.
